Jordan Sudberg, MD – Helping Patients Overcome Debilitating Pain

Pain Management

Before his career as a Long Island, New York, pain management physician, Jordan Sudberg, MD, studied psychology as an undergraduate at Yeshiva University. He graduated from the New York City school in 1995, around which time he also spent an academic year conducting research in tissue engineering at the Department of Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

Jordan Sudberg, MD, subsequently worked for the better part of two years as a cardiac rehabilitation/exercise specialist in New York City. In 1999, he resumed his studies, gaining admittance to the medical school at St. Georges University. However, he went on to earn his MD from the school, graduating in 2004.

Dr. Sudberg then returned to New York, where as a research assistant and coordinator at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of St. Vincent’s Medical Center, he conducted research examining whether certain types of diet and supplementation could be successful in treating insulin resistance.

His research during this time also included analyzing the role of cardiovascular exercise in heart health, studies he conducted through Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Jordan Sudberg began his postgraduate training in 2006 with an internal medicine internship at Staten Island University Hospital.

He followed that with a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency, which he completed at North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital.

Over the course of his training, Dr. Sudberg developed an interest in regenerative medicine, a field in which he continues to leverage his knowledge to treat his patients today.

Today, Dr. Sudberg cares for his patients at Spine and Sports Rehabilitation, a pain management practice located on Long Island, New York.

Serving as CEO and medical director of the practice since 2018, he focuses on providing comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of spinal, musculoskeletal, neuropathic, and other types of acute, subacute, and chronic pain.

In keeping with his comprehensive approach, Dr. Sudberg maintains an experienced team that includes physician assistants, therapists, and other medical providers.

Together, they work to diagnose the source of patients’ pain and provide the care best suited to alleviating symptoms.

Through treatments like ultrasound therapy, steroid injections, and ultrasound-guided peripheral joint injections,

Dr. Sudberg and his team are able to help patients improve their quality of life and return to the activities they love.

As a patient-focused doctor, Jordan Sudberg, MD, avoids a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, he and his team conduct a careful evaluation of each patient to ensure the right treatments are selected.

His consultations begin with a thorough evaluation covering a patient’s personal and family medical history.

He then works with the patient to locate the source of the pain and determine its severity. After performing a physical exam, he offers his recommendations in the form of a personalized treatment plan.

In cases when the source of the pain cannot be diagnosed at a first appointment, he orders additional testing, such as advanced diagnostic imaging or muscle nerve tests.

Dr. Sudberg prides himself on establishing positive relationships with his patients, and he consistently strives to help those under his care understand their symptoms and how to manage them.

Fluent in English and conversant in Spanish, he maintains a main office in Islandia and satellite offices elsewhere on Long Island, making him easily accessible to New York City and Long Island residents who are experiencing debilitating pain.

Jordan Sudberg, MD, brings to his practice nearly a decade of experience as a practicing physician.

He previously maintained his own medical office in Manhattan’s Herald Square, where for six years he provided care in the area of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

His clinical background also includes providing pain management treatments through practices in Ronkonkoma and Flushing, New York.

Committed to offering the latest techniques in his field , Jordan Sudberg, MD, stays on the forefront of his field through continuing education courses.

In 2021, he completed courses at the Hospital for Special Surgery and the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, the latter of which consisted of an eight-day program.

Jordan Sudberg, MD, belongs to the World Academy of Pain Medicine Ultrasonography, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Physically active in his free time, he is a certified tennis instructor and a former competitive skier.
